- Just for background, I am running a 386DX-33 with 8meg using
- WFWG 3.11 I had, at the suggestion of someone, added the
- TimerCriticalSection=10000 line to my system.ini (386Enh
- section). Recently, I removed the line, and seem to be having
- a better download rate running Netscape 2.0 The only indicator
- I am using is the data transfer rate displayed by netscape when
- downloading a large file, but by clearing the cache each time,
- and comparing data rates, there seems to be a clear advantage
- to not having this entry in my system.ini. Has anyone else
- experienced this, or have a possible explanation?

- ps. I am using a Cardinal MVP288i, PPP connection using
- a dialer supplied by Sprynet, and conducting my adhoc
- tests on the same 140K gif file, at about 4am EST, when
- system loads are negligible. The average results of
- many comparison tests seem to indicate that it is a
- genuine phenomena... at least on my machine... :-)
